I have mild hypertension, basically i am not taking any drugs just maintaining lifestyle by doing excercises usually jogging & eating low fat & low salt foods. | INTRODUCTION
My name is Dhiraj Jangra, born into a highly spiritual family on 6th February’76. I was initiated to Yoga by my mother in the year 1984.
Yoga means to yoke (yug) one thing to another; it links the body , mind and spirit and finally God.
I am a student and teacher of Raj Yoga, the royal path i.e., the practice of Astanga (eight limbs) Yoga prescribed by Patanjali in his Yoga sutras. Over the years I have realized that Yoga is a powerful tool in transformation of the personality and it has benefited me in all the areas of my life
It is because of this reason that I want to pass on these techniques to others.
During the professional span of 4 years as a Yoga Instructor, I have taught simple Yogic techniques to a wide group of people in various parts of the country. Here is a brief description of the work that I was engaged in with my former institution.
EDUCATION
After completing my Post Graduation in Management, I was selected for an intensive Sadhana (Spiritual practice) Course at Jain Vishwa Bharti Adhyatma Sadhana Kendra, New Delhi. In this three months course I learned various meditation techniques from highly expert masters. A few months after the completion of the course I was employed by this institution as a Senior Resource Person (Guided Meditation and Yoga Instructor) at its Extension and Research Center-Science Of Living and Yoga, New Delhi.
Here, I also did my Post Graduate course in Preksha Meditation, Science Of Living and Yoga . To further my education in Yoga, I also did Yoga Instructors Certificate Course from Swami Vivekanand Kendra, Bangalore through its alumni SahaYog Anubhuti, New Delhi.
I have learnt Acupressure and Acupuncture from world’s renowned experts- Bipin Bhai Shah and Dr.P.B. Lohiya respectively.
RESEARCH AND INNOVATION
Research Project -1 (Sponsored by National Council of Educational Research and Training(NCERT), New Delhi)
There are thousands and thousands of abandoned children, roaming on the streets in India .These children are without shelter, food and proper clothing. To get rid of frustration they easily take to drug addiction, stealing and crime. One would rarely dare to visit the slums they live in. Inspired by our Project Head Prof. M.P. Lele, a
distinguished, learned human being and a seasoned administrator, I worked as a Project Coordinator in a Pilot Research Study conducted to test the efficacy of simple Yogic methods in the inculcation of desired human values in the unprivileged slum children. It was a strenuous task, but we were rewarded at the end as some of the children had developed a true interest in the practice of Yoga.
Research Project –2
Impact of Science of Living(SOL) and Yoga techniques on middle level school children
Our education system sharpens only the left hemisphere of the brain-the intellectual part. Training for the right i.e., the emotive part is missing. Therefore, although Yoga is for everyone, school children need it the most. The various Psychological tests significantly proved the efficacy of Yogic techniques in the integrated personality development of children at the growing age of 11 to 14. The test showed positive developments in the affective, cognitive and behavioral domains of the young learners.
I was also surprised to see that it was much easy for the children to meditate. They can be effectively taught simple exercises to increase concentration and memory. Their adjustment to various areas of life as self, social, home, school and physical showed a positive trend with the Yogic intervention.
Improvement in the academic performance of children as a result of science of living(SOL) and Yoga intervention
STRESS MANAGEMENT AND OTHER TRAINING PROGRAMS
20 mins of Yogic Relaxation(YR) is equivalent to 6 hours of deep sleep
To meet the challenges of competitive age most of the corporate bodies have successfully directed their efforts to get their executives trained in self development and spiritualization. Some of the Institutions where I trained the executives were :
1. NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation , New Delhi, A Govt. Of India Enterprise.) About 600 employees were trained under different training programs during the last 2 years.
2. CISF (Central Industrial Security Force, Ministry Of Home Affairs, Govt. Of India) Senior Gazette Police Officers were provided intensive training in relaxation techniques and Yoga for behavioral modification.
3. NCERT (National Council Of Educational Research and Training, New Delhi). Teachers, Staff and Counselors were given orientation lectures in Yoga and mediation techniques.
4. One week Introductory Courses were conducted for teachers and staff of
• Amity International School Saket, New Delhi.
• Sealqui School, Dehradun
• Uday Bharti School, Faridabad
5. Regular 1 hour personalized training for advanced learners for a group of 35 people from all walks of life at Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi. This project successfully continued for about 3 years.
6 I have also conducted specialized courses for a few renowned Physicians from public and private medical Institutions.
7 I also helped a student to clear competitive exam of Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) who utilized some rare techniques to set aside anxiety and stress during exams. He was trained for three months.
In a nutshell, I am a messenger of this rare ancient tradition. In my capacity as a Secretary of Sukarma Association – a non profit organization based at Gurgaon(Haryana), India, I am organizing various welfare programs for children, conducting Yoga shivirs(camps) in educational institutions and corporate sectors and extending support to like minded institutions in India & abroad. I strongly believe that Yoga if practiced by masses can make this earth a better place to live in as Yoga is not merely performing some postures but a way of life. As a student of Yoga, I can handle any position and make a difference.

| Hello Dr. Aroop Gaur,
I guess you are not completely aware of the OCD. It's a disorder which relapses swiftly and has no cure. Isn't it too optimistic to tell somebody that yoga can cure it in 10 days. I think no body had ever cured OCD in 10 days by yoga. I myself is a sufferer. I have tried pranayams(anulom vilom) for one week and my brain got stuck. I was in a position where I felt a heavy head and got stressed. So cudn't continue. I guess people with OCD have adverse effect of pranayam on them. Pls let me know your opinion. Also let me know on what basis you could claim OCD cure in 10 days. Do you have any practical case with you? Thanks. |
