Claudia told me that she doesn´t know anything about yoga. Here is a brief resume. Yoga is born in India and it exists 5000 years ago. Yoga is not a sport, there is no competition niether it is a religion. Yoga is a method that teaches us to feel our body to be more flexible thanks to the asanas (postures), to control our mind and to devolop our spirit. For me a class of yoga consists in three session: first a warm up, second, practice of asanas and the third, relaxation.

Marcela:
What a wonderful short description!!! Very well said. This applies in more recent and social context. To add:

Yoga is one of the Six Most Important Philosophies called shatdarshana which are part of Vedanta meaning the later part of Vedic Philosophies. They all explain the truths revealed in Vedas in a more Systematic way, thus calling themselves Science, darshana. Yoga is actually a Yogadarshana. It also provides a practical method of realizing the Vedic Truth, called as Brahman, Satyam, Parameshwar, Kaivalyam, Nirvana (which Gautam Buddha learnt directly from Vedic Sages of his time, and then actually realized it under the Bodhi Tree, and later preached it in his own language, now called as Buddhism.) The gyst of this method is Meditation, also called as Rajayoga. All other things in Yoga are complimentary or supportive to this end. Currently, an offshoot or branch or whatever you may like to call of Yoga called as Hathayoga is used for health and fitness, with tremendous benefit, it also gives mental benefits such as relaxation and some preparation for Meditation.
