| Many have different ideas of what this means and there is a magazine by this title. To me it is the same as Self-Realization or God-Realization. Buddha attained enlightenment by doing Raja Yoga in India. Yoga existed before Buddhism but modern yoga has absorbed some of the Buddhist teachings which were originally from yoga. Wikipedia say that the goal of yoga is the attainment of an eternal state of perfect consciousness.
The site below shows that psychology is starting to catch up with yoga. The Upanishads talked about being one with God while in deep sleep. Psychology has investigated this peak experience that people have while in meditation. It is not created by meditation but exists in every person and can happen at any time.
