I have just started using a neti pot. Although the water is falling fairly freely from each nasal passage, and I am left feeling very cleansed, my ears become blocked. I am a bit worried as I am a musician. Any ideas?

Of course bongosom. You must be concerned. Immediately stop this Neti Pot usage. Then learn it from a very qualified teacher. Not the one who can show you how to do the neti or how much fantastically he/she does it. But, who has more mature understanding of Net. Net has nothing to do with Neti Pot. It can be done without any pot. You can find a teacher in your area. Otherwise, come to VA. You must not compromise your ear if you are a musican.

Do you do some standing forward bending when you are done to clear the water out? I had no idea how much water stayed in the passages until one day I had to bend over and pick something up off the floor right after doing the neti. That might be enough to clear you up.

I was taught to do a few rounds of Kapalabhati after neti.

If you have wax in your ear canal, and the water travels through your sinus passages, the wax will absorb the water and expand enough to block the ear canal.
