Hi Jonnie,
I was with my class tonight and we were talking about the disgrace that is the tour de france-I guess, that with some pushing for yoga to be in the olympics, that yoga will fall prey to drugs-I would imagine drugs that loosen the connective tissue and reduce muscle tone, or surgery to alter joints and muscles. Scary stuff.

Yoga and drugs? This reminds me of a girl I worked with. I invited her to yoga class with me and she kept showing up stoned. I ran into her at another class three years later.....yep, she had smoked one before class, obviously. Now she's a yoga teacher. Nice, huh?

Yes, I was watching clips of Bikram's 'world Yoga championships' on Youtube the other day. If those people can walk in ten years, I'll be suprised.

Unfortunately, Yoga competitions look like being an integral part of the future of our 'sport' and when you mix sport and money, the use of performance enhancing drugs is never too far behind.

Hi Jonnie,
Yes, and there's another side-an athlete loves the feeling of performing at their best-I think that many drug-using athletes see the drugs as another form of nutrition, allowing them to perform at their best. Perhaps the use of testosterone, for example, which is naturally occurring, allows the athlete to feel that what they are doing is not illegal.
