| Ashtanga yoga is the eightfold path .Yamas,niyamas,asanas, pranayama the first four steps into yoga are 'bhiranga' the external stages followed by prathyahara,dharana,dhyana and samadhi the four internal stages'antharanga'.Ashtanga yoga which has it's origin in India and is clearly explained by Patanjali in his yoga sutras.
It is not about an asana style. | |

| Thanks Sindu - most of our members here are aware of this difference in definitions, however, we always have a lot of lurkers and newbies, so it is good to review from time to time. I wonder how you would place the antaratma sadhana? I believe dhyana and samadhi fall into that third category. | |
