i am interested in taking a beginner yoga class. I live in Brooklyn. Does anyone know of one i could check out?

As a newcomer to yoga, you might also want to take a look at some books or videos in addition to a class. Patricia Walden's Yoga Practice for Beginners is highly rated by several magazines including Self, Yoga Journal, Fitness and Shape.

"Yoga Practice for Beginners" offers step-by step instruction in the yoga basics:
23 basic poses demonstrated
Standing poses for flexibility and strength
Seated poses for a healthy back
Inverted poses to soothe body and mind
Gentle guidance in deep relaxation
