Subject: Sleep Disorders Classification

Hello everyone,

This is the place where we discuss about Yoga and wellness and share our opinions and thoughts because we are the one who want to know better ways of good living and help each other. Part of the way in which we provide this needed support is to forward comments, other useful resources, and last, but not least, to provide words of encouragement and empathy based on our own experience and knowledge. As the part for this encouragement and empathy I want to share this information with you. Which can be very useful for us. http://www.sleepdisordersguide.com/topics/index.html

Is there any special Yoga asana for the people who are suffering from sleep disorders???

Thank you, I will be waiting for you replies.

Regards,
Marvin.

i don't know for sure, Marvin, but you could always try corpse posture.

savasana

but if you're having trouble sleeping, you probably have something on your mind and that will require meditation and a clearing of the mind.

practically the best way for me to deal with these issues is to recognize what's happening in my mind, deal with what is going on until satisfaction or rationalization-whatever comes first-and then focus on breathing for a bit to relax.

try objectifying the thoughts in your brain and detach your subjectivity and attachment to your thoughts, let them go their merry way.

Life does not have to be so complicated, we make it so.

Great answer SCT. There is not one asana but a full program of asana is very helpful. I have many students tell me that yoga class night is always their best sleep of the week. Why this doesn't encourage them to practice at home is beyond me, but that's the way it is.

thank you.

Certainly following a full program of asanas will allow you to uncover the issue, be careful with this because you don't want to hurt yourself.

I KNOW for a fact that if i'm holding something stressful in, that i simply cannot perform certain postures without risking injury. Accepting this has led to a greater understanding of the landscape of my own personal mind/emotion/psyche and has allowed me to live my life, awake and asleep, in a more fulfilled manner.

Good Luck, Keep Practicing.

You're welcome, Marvin.

i'm only providing you with the path that i know.

You may well have a very good teacher near by, if you do, go to them.

But, even a teacher has school books, so i'd still recommend reading

Hello everyone it's been a long time I didn't visit here..........so finally I got a chance to come and participate in this wonderful forum...........I will you all A Happy New Year... and some info too.......

Narcolepsy is a neurological disorder in which the brain does not regulate sleep wake cycle and it causes a person difficulty staying awake. The common symptom of narcolepsy is excessive daytime sleepiness. You may sleep at any time during the day and you may have episodes of sleep half an hour or less. If your muscles become weak without loss of consciousness, it is called cataplexy. It may occur by sudden emotional reaction such as anger, joy, surprise etc.

Narcolepsy is common in both men and women and can occur at any age. About one of every 2000 people have narcolepsy. The symptoms of narcolepsy include excessive daytime sleepiness, cataplexy, sleep paralysis and hypnogogic hallucinations.

There's this meditation I learned called shoonya (zero) which is a conscious non-doing. It's practiced twice daily for 15 mins. Initially most people sleep-off during the meditation and its a big refresher in just 15mins. Karma is action and conscious non-action dissolves karma, which liberates you from a variety of suffering.
