The famous swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung recognises the value of yoga(authentic indian yoga). He urges western people to study yoga. But he warns them not to apply it because europeans are not so constituted that they can apply these methods correctly.According to jung ,there is a basic difference between the psyche of the east and that of the west.Jung opines that yoga despite being admirable can scarcely be recommended anywhere north of the tropic of cancer.

| interesting post, charvaka - one thing I would say about this is that, back in Jung's day, there were still a lot of people who would have believed that the people in India and the people in Europe were of a different race and had significantly different physical "constitutions." Given that, then his advice is probably good, but most would not agree with that premise anymore. |

| and, some people of the day saw different kinds of people as not even people or "full" or "real" people--different sexes, different races. . .not 'real" people. |

| Interestingly: The brains in the east and west humans work almost the same. I mean an East Brain Surgeon can do surgery on the West Brain, and vice a versa.

Good point Neel except that the brains in the east and the west (as well as the north and the south) work EXACTLY the same not ALMOST the same. The brain anatomy and function is the exactly the same, although humans in different areas of the world choose to fill there brains with different words and view things from different angles due to their respective indoctrination from their family and culture and differing experience. There are , however, some subtle differences in brain function between males and females. Vive la difference!! |
