Subject: Trochanter "Bursitis"

I have been practicing yoga for 35 years and have a strong background in Iyengar, Anusara, and "Astanga" yoga. Three years ago I was diagnosed with greater trochanter "bursitis" in both hips. After much reading and work with therapist I am convinced that my problem is not with the bursa but it seems that that the ball of the trochanter is impinging on the IT band. I have tried rest for a few months and steroid shots but both made it worse. I have been to several orthopedists, message therapists, physical therapists, and yoga therapists but none of these therapists have experience with someone who has this disability but is fit, flexible, active, and already practices daily. Has anyone had experiences with this problem?
