Extreme Veteran Posts: 418 Location: New York | OK, I guess I should rephrase that . . . I took a Bikram yoga class today, for the first time in 9 months. Some of you might remember (or not) that I used to be a Bikram instructor but gave up instructing and practicing Bikram because I just got sick of the hot room as well as sick of the studio where I was teaching. But lately I've been having the urge to try a class. So today I went and it was really good- so glad I went! Some postures that I used to love I still love (Eagle, Standing Bow, Triangle, Rabbit), my formerly most hated (Standing Head to Knee) I actually did pretty well, and my Awkward and Locust both need A LOT of work. When I used to practice, I had gotten to where the dialogue was driving me nuts but today I didn't mind it at all. The instructor had a really pleasant voice and he wasn't "pure" dialogue. Overall, it was a good experience. I'd like to go back again soon. So never say never (like I did before) . . .

It's good to take breaks from our routines. I like Bikram better myself when I take a break and then do a class. Good for you!

Even though I've heard ya'll tell your nightmare stories, I never could relate since I had a great teacher from the beginning. That would make all the difference. I love listening to my instructor's voice, she is so pleasant and there are certain phrases that she uses that really help me during the practice. I have a tape that I practice to at home when I need motivation. That means a lot to me. I've been with this instructor for a couple of years now and even now, sometimes I hear something different on the same recording that I've been listening to for all this time...anyway, it's all good. Welcome back to the dark side. "May the force be with you!",

i've kinda been itching to do a little bikram yoga myself over the past couple days...maybe from reading this thread? only problem is one of the main teachers there is my ex...and we're not exactly on good terms...which is something i was worried about when i started dating her...hmmm... i bet the heat would make my backbends insane, though...

The dark side has you in it's clutches again. Mwa ha ha ha haaaaaaa!!!!!! Speaking of the dark side, it is speaking to me too. It's been nearly a year since I last practiced Bikram at an official Bikram studio. Maybe when I I should go get an intro package at this studio I've been hearing about but haven't been to yet sometime soon. Can you believe it? $30 for 30 days! It's too good to be true. Must resist the dark side. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Regular Posts: 60 | I can relate. I took five months off after going consistently for two years. I was sick of the heat and the instructors, I decided it was time for a break. I started again about a month ago and so far the experience has been good, i'm able to tolerate the instructors and my body is starting to loosen up quite a bit. The benefits I get from the heat and the poses are undeniable and that is why I am back.

That sounds a lot like the studio I go to, especially considering you're from 'Sin' City. I promise it's a lot more light than dark. By the way, I like to think of it more of 'Fun' city. Sinning is optional... unless of course you like being bad.
