Ive been an active bikramite 4-5 times a week for last 6 months, and love it. My main difficulty is a bunion on my right big toe. it has become amazingly flexible, losing its stiffness. Nonetheless, it hurts! Surgery looks ridiculous. Does anyone have a positive experience or negative one they can share re: bunions and bikram? I don't want to ignore a need for surgery or intervention and want to know if they can correct themselves through yoga?

strats - I don't know about Bikram, but I do know bunions get worse the more you bend your toes. I expect the toe stand won't help it. I am told surgery is about 50-50 - some people experience permanent relief and some end up the same or worse. Iyengar yoga has helped my bunion and other foot issues quite a lot. Dancing in heels has started to undo that, but they look sooo nice

i don't know about yoga but i have friends and family who've had bunion surgery and it's a big relief to them, they are all so happy that they finally got it done. i'm planning my surgery for later this year as well. with bunions the pain only gets worse, my Mom has them but at her age surgery isn't such a great idea unless necessary and my Mom doesn't care but she's always in pain. i know that after surgery it takes a bit getting use to your feet being straight but honestly surgerty is so advanced nowadays that if you decide to get it i wouldn't worry about more than the usual after surgery pain. i mean honestly you are going to be in some pain for awhile b/c you're feet will be straight and you're body has to adjust to that but from what i've heard after surgery pain isn't that bad. you just have to follow doctors orders and not try and do too much
