So I am starting to get some classes at various places - some of which have no mats, straps or blocks. Is there anywhere is Canada to get these items at a bulk or reduced rate for those needing to purchase them?

Shannon - there is Halfmoon on the west coast at
http://www.halfmoonyogaprops.com/
and from Calgary (a little closer to you!) there is the Yoga Mat
http://www.yogamat.com

I have never ordered from either of them so I can't give any feedback, sorry. I would also suggest contacting the bigger studios around you and finding out where they get their props from. We actually have blankets etc. shipped from India as we have teachers going regularly to study.

Shannon,

Halfmoon actually has a good program that allows teachers/studios to order at a reduced rate as long as they order $300.

There are several websites that offer bulk rates, which means you have to order a certain number of each product. They're not in Canada, but I assume they ship there.

Look at: www.bluelotus.com/wholesale.html; www.yogamatrolls.com; and www.barefootyoga.com. And www.toolsforyoga.net; Hugger mugger also has teacher/studio rates, but you have to send them some proof that you're a teacher. They're minumum is $150 for the first wholesale order. I think you'll be able to find information on huggermugger.com. If you can't send me a message and I'll look it up in my notes.

You should check with yoga.com, too. I don't know their policy on bulk orders but it is always worthwhile to check Nice to work within Canada, though since you don't have to worry about stuff getting stuck at the border or currency exchange rates.

Yes - that is why I specifically asked for Canada - I saw the tools and mats that are for sale here and they are beautiful - but by the time you do the conversion to CAD and then you get taxed at the border, and shipping across the border is horrendous - it gets expensive really fast - especially when you are just starting out!

I have done some searching on Ebay and have found some nice things for a reasonable price too.
