Hello!
What do you consider the top three yoga schools that offer teacher training? It's tough to decide on a school, since all websites say they are the best. Of course there are search criteria such as certification, class breakdown, etc, but there is that intangible reputation.......

Thanks!
Stefanie

i think that if you're not connected to an organization or lineage, your best bets would be to 1. get iyengar training which takes a million years, 2. check out kripalu (kripalu.com), 3. check out sivananda (sivananda.org), and 4. check out white lotus foundation (i think it's whitelotus.org or whitelotusfoundation.org). There are many other trainings out there, worthwhile for different things.

what are you thinking about taking and why?

Zoebird,
thanks for the info. I am leaning towards Iyengar training. But I will check out kripalu, sivananda and whitelotus.

I am thinking about getting 500 hour certified.

Why start teaching? I've been dabbling in yoga for the last 6 years and have always been interested in teaching. Now I am ready to go for it. One thing that I want out of the teacher training is not just learning how to teach the fitness aspect of yoga, but the entire yoga experience. Does that make sense?

Thanks

I can only say from my experience the Sivananda TTC is a month of living in an Ashram which I found very rewarding in developing more of a traditional appreciation to my practice. What I mean is that before my TTC I always felt my practice needed to be grounded more, that I wanted to feel a greater understanding of the philosophy and spirit to ones practice, because mine was greatly lacking and I knew It. My experience with Sivananda opened me to the wisdom and sanctity of my own practice. I look forward to attending the ATTC in the future

Om Shanti,
Ravi
