| I started practicing Bikrim yoga at my daughter's request just over a month ago. I was told by my cardiologist that I had a weak heart. Additionally, I was on 160 mg of Diovan for stage II hypertension and 40 mg of Protonix for acid-reflux or GERD. My approach to yoga practice is to take it slow and easy. To do as much as I can while maintaining proper breathing. After just three days of yoga I was able to reduce my blood pressure medication in half to 80 mg. On day nine I stopped all medications. My blood pressure now averages 118/65 without medication and I have not had an episode of acid-reflux. I monitor my bp several times a day and practice yoga daily. I will be interested to hear my cardiologist's reaction to the effects of yoga on my next visit. Every passing day I get a little stronger and can go into postures a bit further. It may take the rest of my life, but I am not in a hurry! The benifit of not taking medication is reason enough to practice yoga. The benefits to the mind, body, and overall well being are icing on the cake!

| I too am stunned by what bikram did to me in only 5 weeks. I am going to get a metabolic work test and then compare in another year and see how much it changes.
bikram gets attacked quite a bit but man does it work! |

Yes the man gets attacked, the method does not get attacked. |

| I'll attack the method in the way too many of the instructors execute it as well as the repetition. OK, attack is too strong a word--I'd always caution anybody undertaking it to evaluate it critically. |
