| Hi, everyone.
So I've been very diligent w/my yoga and i've been going to classes about three, four times a week. and it's been about a month and a half now. i've made really great progress since i couldn't even bend and touch my ankles when i started.
however i just can't do the triangle!! i just don't feel strong enough to bend far enough and then raise up my arm w/out slipping and falling. am i doing something not right? my instructor just says bend more, make the thigh parallel to the floor. |

Location: A Blue State | Triangle can be hard for a number of reasons, so you might try some simpler variations
on it first. You can rest the forearm on the leg to support you. You can put that same hand
on the floor, palm down, inside (not outside, as in the full pose). And you can stay on
your mat, rather than the slippery carpet, when doing the pose.
It's important to respect your *own* body when doing this asana, which can be difficult
if you teacher is insisting on perfect form. Don't push too far and get injured if you are
not able to do the full pose comfortably -- it takes time to build up strength and flexibility
for this asana.
This link has a photo with some people modifying that pose to fit their own body:

| You have only been practicing for a month and a half ! It could take some times years to improve your postures. Triangle posture is for sure a difficult posture for most people. Just keep practicing the right way. Work the postures one step at a time. Your instructor is right by saying to bend the leg more. Start by making sure your thigh is parallel to the floor and your leg forms 90degree angle. It might be hard at first but you have to keep trying. Some time it could take years ! Your hips will open up as you try the right way.
Remember, Bikram Yoga is a lifetime practice. Consistant practice will allow your body/skeletal system to improve and your postures will improve... Just keep practicing, and your body and postures will improve. I have been praticing Bikram Yoga for over 4 years and I keep seeing my body transforming.
Stay strong and determined. Believe that your body will open up (it happened to me and to many of my students )
Best of luck !

| Hi,
I have been doing Bikram for about two months also. I felt the same way at first, very unsteady in Triangle, but when I started to really contract my quad muscle, although it was difficult to do at first, now I feel much more "solid" and set in the posture. Hope that helps! |

Did you know that Triangle is the Master Posture in the Bikram series? It's the only one you can't cheat too well in doing it, |

| actually it's gotten a little better. yippeee!!!
it's not perfect. i'm sure it'll be a while but my legs are feeling stronger and the spinal twist
feels better. I'm not falling!!!
it's still my least favorite, though. the triangle and the standing bow yikes.. |
