Hi

I am new here. I am from India. I have recently taken up yoga. I do
anuloma-viloma pranayama as taught by Swami Ramdev. I have been doing this for past 2-3 weeks now. Its just a simple procedure where you do
alternate breathing from your left and right nostrils. I am getting some benefits even with such a short time period. But I have had sinus problem as well as some anxiety problem for a very long time. So my nose is not very
clear while doing this pranayama. I went to swami ramdev's ayurvedic pharmacy and they asked to apply some 'Badam Roghan' oil (almond oil)
to the inside of my nostril. I am doing that for 2-3 days now. I am also taking
chyavanprash while going to sleep. I have had bad experience with Jala Neti.
Jala neti had aggravated my sinus problems in the past. So, I am not doing it
now. I want to ask people here, what other steps can I take to reduce nasal
blockages so that my pranayama is more effective. Usually pranayam itself causes sinus problems to go away, but in the beginning of this study, we may require some additional aids to ease nasal congestion.

I have been practicing Shivambu Chikitsa (self urine therapy) every morning for past 2 months. I have also stopped adding red chilli powder in the
cooked food.

So please suggest some help for easing nasal passage so that pranayama
can be done effectively.

Hi!

Your body produces too much mucus. It is good idea to re-consider your diet, avoid milk products and eat more fresh produce.

Hi thanks for the reply. I don't take milk products. I will try to include more fresh produce. Does pranayam itself cure such
condition since the nose is only slightly blocked ?

It can cure however the blocking can be due to pollution in your area or even some allergy you are not aware of.
