Subject: They may be able to stock the title

?GAME’s last interims showed half-year revenues ofpound558.8m, but a pre-tax loss of 51.5m. The projected loss for the full year ispound18m, after the Christmas period, when the lion’s share of Runescape games are sold. At their half year, GAME set out their vision: to be their customers’ first choice for all of their gaming needs. At the time of writing, it seems that the section of gaming needs represented by Mass Effect 3 will not be being served. GAME has published a Q A asserting that they may be able to stock the title in the future – negotiations are no doubt ongoing. Of more interest, however, is where this leaves their relationship with EA. Asked whether the supply issue extended to all upcoming EA releases, GAME’s PR company had no comment to make – unofficial sources Preorders for The Last Story, an RPG for the Nintendo Wii created by Final Fantasy‘s Hironobu Sakaguchi, had been refunded last week as the game failed to reach GAME’s shelves. This illustrated the mutual damage – the store could not make sales, but nor could Nintendo, seeing the game fail to chart. High street sales are still relevant. And The Last Story, with the utmost respect to its creators and publisher, is not Mass Effect 3. Nintendo’s withdrawing of Mario Part 9 is a cause for greater concern. Stock in GAME lost 15% of its value on trading today. This represents a drop of around a penny – a steady decrease from a 52-week high of around 60p (after a 10p loss the the preceding February) saw a sharp drop from 20p to 10p around the gloomy Interims announcement of November 16. In all, it’s not looking great. I asked two knowledgeable sources – one in the needs of wealthy investors, the other in the needs of impecunious Runescape gamers – what they saw happening next. New Research Shows Apple Still Winning the Runescape video game War Against Android. Newzoo RS 07 Gold has revealed key insights into mobile gaming in the US market as part of a fresh study of markets in Germany, France, the UK and US. Among findings about the American market is that the number of mobile Runescape gamers in the US has grown from 75 million to 101 million, of which 69% plays on smartphones and 21% on tablets. The largest growth can be found in the conversion to paying Runescape players. The number of paying Runescape players has grown 35% to 37 million Americans, or 36% of all mobile Runescape gamers. This shows that mobile gaming is set for another year of double-digit revenue growth in the US. While mobile gaming preferences between the US and European countries differ, revenue share clearly angles in favor of iOS Runescape games over Android in all countries. American Runescape players spend in total five times more on iOS Runescape games than on Android Runescape games.
