By the end of 1995, the world rutile (including anatase) reserves and reserves base were 33.3 million tons and 164.4 million tons respectively, with a total resource of about 230 million tons (TiO2 content, the same below), mainly concentrated in South Africa, India, Sri Lanka and Australia. The world's ilmenite (TiO2) reserves and reserves base are 274.3 million tons and 435.3 million tons respectively, with a total resource of about 1 billion tons; It is mainly concentrated in South Africa, Norway, Australia, Canada and India.

By the end of 1996, China had 357.0409 million tons of primary ilmenite (converted into TiO2) (including 231.915 million tons of Grade A + B + C); Ilmenite (placer) mineral reserves are 38.0319 million tons (including 21.4717 million tons of Grade A + B + C); Rutile mineral reserves are 2.5686 million tons (including grade A + B + C 737300 tons); Rutile TiO2 reserves are 7.5086 million tons (including 2.4243 million tons of Grade A + B + C).

If the reserves of a + B + C grade MINERALS OF ILMENITE PLACER in China in 1996 are 21.4717 million tons, converted by 248% of TiO2, the reserves of TiO2 are 10.3064 million tons, accounting for only 3.83% of the 270 million tons of ilmenite (TiO2) in the world in the same year; If it is added with the available a + B + C reserves (231915000 tons) of primary titanomagnetite (TiO2), and the (TiO2) reserves produced by granular ilmenite account for 115.9575 million tons, the total TiO2 reserves are 126.266 million tons, accounting for 47.76% of the world's ilmenite (TiO2) reserves of 270 million tons in the same year, China can be called the country with the richest ilmenite resources in the world.

If 737300 tons of a + B + C reserves of rutile minerals retained in China in 1996 are converted into 693100 tons of TiO2 reserves according to 94% of TiO2, plus 2424300 tons of a + B + C reserves of rutile (TiO2), the total is 3117400 tons, accounting for 9.36% of the world rutile (TiO2) reserves of 33.3 million tons in the same year, it can be seen that China is not rich in rutile resources.
