Effective methods to reduce cavitation of centrifugal pump

Methods to reduce cavitation of centrifugal pump

1? Improving cavitation resistance of centrifugal pump

1. Method 1 for reducing cavitation of centrifugal pump

(1) Water pump with double suction impeller. NPSH due to double suction pump ? HC ratio: NPSH of single stage single suction centrifugal pump ? HC is small. For pumps with the same speed n and flow Q, double suction impellers shall be used as much as possible.

(2) Appropriately increase the impeller inlet diameter and increase the blade inlet width. When the impeller inlet diameter and blade inlet width increase, the impeller inlet speed and relative speed decrease, which shows that the critical NPSH of the pump decreases. However, at this time, the area of the leakage reduction ring at the impeller inlet increases, the leakage increases, and the volumetric efficiency of the pump decreases.

(3) An inducer is added in front of the impeller. An inducer is arranged in front of the impeller of the centrifugal pump. The inducer operates with the blades of the pump, and the pressure wheel produced by the inducer operates together after being coaxially assembled. The pressure generated by the inducer pressurizes the inlet of the impeller and improves the anti cavitation performance of the pump. However, the performance of the pump will be unstable if the inducer is added. Therefore, further exploration and research are needed.

2. In order to reduce the damage of cavitation to the flow-through parts of the pump and prolong its service life, materials with strong cavitation resistance are often used to improve the cavitation resistance of the flow-through parts. Such as cast manganese, bronze, stainless steel and alloy steel; Or coating or laser spraying the surface of the flow passage part with polymer to resist cavitation damage. In addition, finishing the surface of the flow passage part can improve its smoothness and reduce the harm of cavitation.
