| I have just started yoga and I find that my hips are aching after I practice, is this just because I have not used these mussels before or should I be concerned? |

First, I think it's important to find a qualified yoga instructor in your area to help guide you toward a yoga practice that is safe and appropriate for your personal needs. As a beginner to yoga, start slowly to orient your body to a new way of exercising without injury. You could try a gentle yoga for beginners video, such as Patricia Walden's Yoga for Beginners, or the one by Kelly Maguire and see if these are comfortable for home based yoga routine.

| You might try a variation of a basic seated posture, use props, such as pillows or blocks to change the position slightly. Shorten the time in each posture. It is very important to have qualified instruction and to learn deep breath as part of your practice. Just like with exercise or stretching, if you aren't moving the breath powerfully, deeply and consciously, the soft tissue does not have the oxygen it needs to allow it to release, lengthen and move out the tension. Be meticulous not pushing into the pain danger zone.Is it your mind telling you to stop or is your muscles or ligaments saying to far!!!! Learn to get in touch with your body while yoga-ing... Water helps too.
