What specific poses are prohibited during menstruation? Is it only completely inverted poses? Would even downward facing dog be considered as inverted?

Hello-

If you are looking from advice on postures to avoid during menstruation, it tends to vary between different yoga teachers and different schools of yoga. It is frequently advised to avoid inversions such as headstand, handstand, and shoulderstand. Some teachers may advise against other postures during menstruation, but that does tend to vary. If you have specific concerns, please speak to a doctor and, if applicable, your yoga teachers.

You might also be interested in exploring a book, The Women's Book of Yoga and Health, which includes specific discussion of yoga and menstruation. Its available through Yoga.com in the Shop section.

Good luck!
Jess
