| I'd really like to try Anusara yoga, but there isn't an affiliated instructor within 300 miles of me.
Can anyone recommend any videos that would be good to try? I've been doing mostly "power" type yoga for about a year now and am ready to branch out a bit.

| I think if you go to Anusara.com there are some videos/DVDs by John Friend. I've never seen them, so I can't give you an opinion on them.

| Thanks! I found the anusara.com web site and looked at the videos there too. Would welcome reviews from anyone who's seen them/tried them!

| If I am not mistaken, the first Friend video is from his Iyengar days. Pretty darned complete, though, and if you slow down and actually end up using the muscles he asks, you will find yourself having worked hard.
Where do you live that there is no affiliated or certified Anusara teacher? Just curious, since Anusara is growing so rapidly...

| Thanks for the info on the video, Christine. I'm in SE South Dakota, pretty far from anything  let alone Anusara teachers!
I will be visiting New Orleans next month, and oddly enough the anusara web site didn't list any instructors in that area either. Maybe it is just outdated? |

| Actually the site isn't outdated, but do consider this: It lists affiliated and certified teachers only. This means those working towards that status aren't listed. My suggestion would be to email them and ask who is studying/teaching Anusara in NO. It's a weird yoga city, I can tell you. Suprisingly little!
But John and those working the Anusara office know who is where and can probably give you names immediately. It's also surprising how small-town-ish they are in that they know people by first name. Rather refreshing in these days of big, faceless corporations!
Have fun down there. NO is a fabulous city. Prepare to dine well and shop hard!
