Anybody know anything about Richard Freeman? I'm thinking of doing a
workshop with him, since it turns out to be a convenient time/place.

After 3 weeks of this post sitting here, nobody has answered it?
Nobody out there can tell me anything about Richard Freeman's
teaching?

I'll add that what got me interested in him are the excellent postures
he did for the Yoga Journal's coffee table book, He's in there with
my American yoga heros -- Tony Sanchez, Dharma Mittra, and Patricia
Walden.

Dear Bay Guy:
He, I am almost sure, is a direct student of respected Pathabi Jois. I can recommend you his videos, see Ashtanga Style videos by him in the Border's Books, may be. Start with beginner level. He is a good guy, like you are a Bay Guy.

I have not studied with Richard, but I have seen his videos and know that by reputation he is one of the BEST ashtanga people in the world. So you would be a fool not to take a workshop with him.

He is considered the best teacher in Boulder CO. That is saying alot. I recommend him very much. I have many friends that have gone to the training. Let me know if their is anything I can do for you since I live pretty close.

I didn't see this post at all!

If you have a chance, don't miss it. Richard Freeman is considered by many, many senior yogin to be a yoga teacher's yogi. Not only is is practice beautiful and strong, he is a clear, concise teacher with a dry wit. He knows so much and is able to convey it so it almost feels like an "Of COURSE!" in the body.

I truly envy you the opportunity! I took a class with him in NYC and really enjoyed it. Well worth the time and energy.

Christine

Guru Christine is the E.F. Hutton of Yogadom--when she talks, I listen. Freeman must be taking the highroad as he doesn't seem to be an object of press--good or bad--like certain B-word yogis we know. I'll have to check the lad out.

THANKS, Everyone! I am going to send my check in tomorrow morning's mail.

(I just wanted to be sure RF wasn't like...well, I won't actually type that other
guy's name, although for a hint he has earned the nickname is Stud Muffin
among friends of his his ex-wife.)

Brother Bay Guy--you'll confuse the forum members--they'll think you're talking about me. All seriousness aside, I see RF will be in Dallas in Feb--may have to stop in. In fact, Living Yoga in Dallas has quite a line up through spring--RF and Anna Forrest.

No worry, Brother Bruce. I didn't know you were also known as
The Stud Muffin, but you don't offer [bad] yoga workshops on
the side, do you?

No bad workshops yet but I'm sure that'll come someday--a guy's gotta have a goal you know.

RF is not like that other "stud muffin," but nonetheless I wouldn't entirely rule out a stud muffin workshop if I were you. Even with the bad press that some yogis get for indiscretions, I am loathe to dismiss them entirely. Bikram, Baptiste, Yee and others are all great teachers and have helped a lot of people.

I don't think you are wrong in questioning and finding out about them. Frankly, showing your disapproval by not attending the workshops of yoga teachers that have gone astray is a beautiful display of capitalism and patriotism.

My point is don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
