Expert Yogi Posts: 8442 | That is a great choice if she is into the philosophy of yoga. Another "classic" is Light on Yoga by BKS Iyengar. Other good choices Yoga: The Path to Holistic Health by B. K. S. Iyengar or The Heart of Yoga: Developing a Personal Practice T. K.V. Desikachar or Woman's Book of Yoga and Health: A Lifelong Guide to Wellness, Linda Sparrowe, Judith Lasater, With Patricia Walden.

Expert Yogi Posts: 8442 | Does anyone know what causes that weird formatting to happen? Or is it just me and Mozilla?

What weird formatting? Your postings look fine from here kiddo.

Well, if you yourself are not a Yoga Student, then you are in a fix. I would suggest you give her a gift card from Border's etc. and let her choose the book herself. Neel Kulkarni www.authenticyoga.org

I recommend "Meditations From The Mat" by Rolf Gates http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=UG0n2TfAV6&isbn=0385721544&itm=1 Everyone I know loves it.

Glenda, Bruce, I have the strange formatting too. Not in all threads but in this one. It seems it always happens when somebody posts a very long URL cause than it doesn't jump into the next line. I experience that in other forums too, not only in yoga.com. BTW, I run Mozilla's Firefux (Ver 1.0, german) as well but I guess it happens with other browsers too. At least iCab (which I use on the Mac) shows the same syndromes. To Mr Digital Bath's question: I think Neel is right, we don't know how experienced and advanced that girl is in yoga, so maybe a beginner's book wouldn't make any sense. Maybe she's interested in the philosophy, then a book about asanas would be the wrong choice. Or maybe she's into power yoga and has no use for a iyengar book. Gift certificate is the way to go, nicely packed with lots of flowers or maybe wrapped into a new mat. Help, I'm staring to get creative

It goes over different styles of yoga and among other things has Patanjali's yoga sutras. I also recommend "Bhavad Gita", but it is a small book, so you'll need another present with it Do you know what style of yoga your girlfriend practices? If so, another option is to get a book from one of the respected teachers in that style.

I agree with the Kulkarnn man on this one. If you're not into yoga, and if you're not sure of what aspects of yoga interest her most, that could put you in a pickle. Then again, if she's not the picky type and if to her it's the thought that counts, maybe she won't mind if you get her book that wasn't what she was exactly looking for. I think Neel's idea about the gift card to Borders or Barnes and Noble would be good. Either that or maybe yoga.com has gift certificates. Here's another idea, maybe you can get a free yoga class certificate for her and a gift card to her favourite studio, that way, when she goes for her class, she can also get a book (or some sort of yoga toy) of her choosing since most studios have some good yoga publications on hand.

...or, get her a class card where she practices--perhaps even somewhere else as a diversion--but watch for the expiration dates! (I just can't let that go).

And don't you just love the little messages it shows you? "Firefox has just stopped a pop-up window from popping up!" or somehow like that. And the integrated google? Great program! And it's free
