that doesnt make sense!!

i can reach my foot but then i cant keep my chest open. so i reach as far as i can without compromising the open chest - so what would help me to get further into the pose (yes more practice, i know )

Remember the discussion about foward bends a few days ago, Kira? Somebody - I forgot who - was asking a very intelligent question: Why do you want to reach your foot?

Reaching my foot in parighasana sounds like a nice idea - another thing that will likely not happen in my own practice this lifetime I like to teach this with the outside of the kneeling leg against a wall, keeping the hip touching the wall and lifting UP before bending over. The up part is key to understanding this pose - you must ascend before you can descend. and vice versa - the kneeling leg must descend strongly in order to acheive the lift in that side of the body. and need I say, keep the kneecap on the straight leg well engaged and roll the thigh out? I'm such an Iyengar geek
