Hi All,

I've been lurking here for a few days, so I thought I would introduce myself. I'm starting yoga AGAIN, after practicing it for a few months about 3 years ago. Then I got sidetracked with life, and I never want to take a break like that again! Yoga is so good for me. I'm taking a beginner Ashtanga-based class, and I have a great instructor (in my opinion) who takes lots of time to make sure we are doing things correctly.

A question though: During sun salutations, when I go into upward dog, am I supposed to have my toes curled under or am I supposed to balance on the tops of my feet? In the picture (primary series) I have, it looks like I"m supposed to be on the tops of my feet.

Thanks!

Welcome Claire--glad you found your way back. Interesting question you posed. I just went through that series with my first private instructor. At the agogee of your "up pup," you are on the tops of your feet then you roll over the toes into ole down dog. So if your in a vinyasa "flow" class it's a continual movement. Feels very good once you get the hang of it. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum! Congratulations on going back to yoga. I was practicing on and off for awhile too, but I finally started taking classes and practicing at home regularly.
