Tummy / Belly / Stomach ???

They're all the same to me and don't seem to have any unpleasant conotations. I often advise my classes: to tuck in their tummies or lift up yr belly. Seems cuter and friendlier than hold in those stomachs.

Quicker as well.

Ya should have heard my latest teacher trying to explain the bandas and have to feel them to me last night--I tried to remain straight faced cause she was so serious and professional--I'm just a juvenile tho.

I don't like the word belly. I know this is neurotic, but it sounds fat to me. I say belly button, but there's something about "belly" that makes me cringe.

"Stomach" is technically incorrect; your stomach is a part of your digestive system.

I kind of like "tummy"- it IS cute and friendly. I feel babyish when I say it though, so I usually say abdominals, core or midsection.

How bout` just plain ole "Suck in your Gut"! Just Joking...I would die laughing if I ever heard a Yoga Instructor say that...although Bruce would probably like that better than the Om and the Incense - talk about down to earth - the Southern part, LOL!!

Following our teacher training, I'm starting Bruce's Yoga--"Yoga without the crap." No Oming, no candles, no chanting and no freaking savasana--roll up your mat and haul ass to Starbucks or something.

" or something": A pub, a restaurant, home, a tattoo parlor, a fishing hole, a Harley dealer, church, the beach, a political rally, the cinema, AfroYogi's house, ad infinitum.

Yep, that's what I thought you'd say. I would hang out at the Harley Dealer with you though - with my cup of Starbucks Chai, LOL!!

Why my house, Bruce? I guess you'll find it most disappointing here coz you'll not be able to find any beer in the fridge no more. OTOH there's quite often the tasty smell of burned animals coming from our garden.
And as much as I would like to become a loyal student of the Bruce Yoga Philosophy, I must insist on my 10 minutes in heavenly relaxing savasana. If you guys could please be so kind to leave me a note in which starbuck or Yamaha dealer ( ) I can find you, I will join you then a bit later.

Bruce I can't help thinking about your avatar. Because I have finally got my home spa going, and with my last few home practices I have been 'doing my savasana' in the spa - sitting there, eyes closed, massaged by the jets, bliss. Maybe you can have spa savasana for Bruce yoga with a few tinnies and bubblies.

Oh and any chance for a hangover sequence in Bruce yoga ?

last week one of my students showed up looking a little rough around the edges - i told her not to worry - we would sweat it out.....all through practice she kept saying "are you sure you wouldnt rather just have a cup of tea and a chat?" and "a bacon and egg sandwich would be great right now "

she will be the first to sign up for that series!

Subject: Speaking of Hangover Yoga. . .

I was once called (very short notice) to substitute teach a yoga class after a night of indulgence. Anyway, I agreed to help out, even though I was feeling pretty hung over.

I planned a very GENTLE class for that evening. It was at a gym where I taught some classes regularly, so I knew most of the class participants. To my surprise, I got so many great compliments about class that night! (Apparently everyone was in the mood to do some deep breath work and gentle stretching!) Isn't that too funny??!!

Apparently, I do my best work when I'm hung over!

(Too bad, since I hardly ever have more than one or two drinks these days!!!)
