| I happen to love opera AND am a huge Andrea Bocelli fan (which I realise is not actually common...)
Thanks for at least recognizing that Bocelli isn't opera. As a singer I admit to being sensitive about this, but how that guy (and his fellow popera singers) are marketed annoys me to no end. It creates alot of misconceptions for me and my line of work.

| Just because I feel the need to put in my 2 cents worth, I find Sarah Brightman much more annoying than Boccelli. At least he doesn't swan around on stage pretending to be a 15 year old pop star with a hundred miles of curls and a tonne of glitter. OTOH, maybe "popera" is like certain styles of yoga - an entryway for the uninitiated into a world where otherwise they might not dare to tread? |

If only that were true, but in my experience it doesn't seem to be. People think they're listening to opera already, and often when they hear the real stuff they're disturbed by how cathardic it is. Bocelli and company don't bother me, but the fact that they're marketed as opera singers does.
Getting back to yoga though, I love hearing what other people practice too, and relieved to know that I'm not the only person who ocassionally does asana in front of the TV. Simpsons reruns and Star Trek reruns are great for that. |

Original Star Trek or Next Generation? Should we start the "who was the best captain?" debate? |

Location: Somewhere in the Mountains of Western NC | Number one Captain Kirk used to be my choice until I had to work with him in person....he is an arrogant A%%4ole in person!!! So does the real personality count against him in this vote? |

Deep Space Nine actually. It's my favorite of all the Star Trek shows. My other half and I have been watching it season by season on DVD. |

| I'm a fan of all the shows, really. DH is a die hard Kirk fan (yes, I've heard he is pretty arrogant in person - so there is ONE Canadian with an attitude out there.... But he does have a sense of humour about himself which has to count for something) and I like Jean Luc a lot. He is so COOL! I would love to watch DS9 and Voyager in order because their story lines depended more on what happened before and after and Enterprise is like that, too. Plus I never got to see all the episodes - there is a project for my retirement! |
