You know, I don't really look at my classmates that much (except when I'm trying to figure out if someone's wearing underwear ) . I'm too busy concentrating. After reading your exposure stories, I'm obviously missing out on something. Gonna have to pay attention a little more, I think.

Now those of a certain gender may not be trying to pay attention to others, but when a situation presents itself, biology simply kicks in. We had a situation in a gym months ago where a curvaceous woman came in with a skimpy top. Well She bounced a little too hard. She must have been a dancer or athlete because I've never seen anyone move so fast. Never came back for some funny reason. Edited by MrD 2005-03-31 1:57 PM

Please wear undies- regardless of your gender! It can be visually disturbing; least of of all you never know what postion your teacher will expect of you. I also prefer if men don't wear anything vaguely unisex, be they leotards, cycling shorts or hugger-muggers. Whatever you have down there is on a need to know basis only! If yr obscenely well-endowed it looks kinda nasty while if yr not well-endowed it just looks pitiful! Keep yr privates private! Don't know about you guys but you but boxers ain't doing the trick for me either- I had to do a forward-bend (open-legged), wearing boxers under short-shorts and everything fell out to the side! Explained I had a bad back!

miss dee - 2005-03-31 11:56 AM NO WEDGIE??? They should be named Wedgie Pants. Thongs are the ultimate wedgie. I think that's what Echo means ~ a thong is technically already a wedgie. You have one going into class and don't have to worry about developing one later. Oh, and there's less fabric to "wedge." I would imagine if one wears a thong long enough, it would be easy to forget it's there until it is time to extract it.

I wear undies in class b/c I sweat, so it's purely for my own comfort - plus I worry about camel toe (ick).I have some bikini undies that don't create panty lines, so I wear those - but would never wear a thong - who needs a double wedgie PLUS a camel toe while doing sirsasana?

It could be the opening chant at classes!

>> I'm a guy and it's simply distracting to me to when someone wears short loose nylon running shorts WITH NOTHING UNDER THEM and stands in Prasarita Padottonasana two feet in front of me. << Well that's exactly what I do! I simply find my jockeys uncomfortable during practice. And the running shorts that I buy very cheap from the supermarket have a inner net that keeps the crown jewels in place. Just the other day I could catch a glance of my behind during a standing forward bend (through my legs, in the mirror) and can assure you that absolutely nothing is exposed. However, we're not supposed to look at others during class are we. To make a long story short: I GO COMMANDO!!!

Expert Yogi Posts: 8442 | Considering the number of more serious replies here, it is clear it is a subject that should be discussed more often! On the thong topic - I think it must be a question of anatomy. We are miraculously different in our body shapes and bady part shapes (which has already been discussed here...). For some they are comfy, for others, NOT! And consider that if you are indeed in a permanent wedgie, you are providing a perfect little speedway for bacteria, so if you are a thong devotee who has a lot of yeast infections - that's why. I did see a teacher who wore the classic nylon two-flaps-and-a-built-in running short to teach and she would avoid the issue of exposure by tucking the flaps into her undies when needed. Highly distracting, to say the least. As for popping out of the top, there is a classic rock tune by the Guess Who called "She's Come Undone" which is a theme song for one old highschool friend of mine who did the pop-out in a formal dress once

This is NOT serious, just a serious joke. man.tra = man - to repeat, traa - to protect; mantra is a chant which protect the chanter of it. now this NON dangling mantra shall protect the organ (from falling, or herniating or whatever!!!!) of the one who wears the underwear, not the one who only chants. oh i had such a bad day and it all feels so much better now keith: you beat me to the link ! dont ask me why i know that site! i think it is a link from bad plastic surgery.com. brother neel: THIS IS A CD YOU SHOULD MAKE!! i will add one more NO-NO: prints under white pants. once this swedish girl said to me, "kira, the first time i saw you i thought you were so weird." "why?", I asked. "because you were teaching with bright pink hearts on your panties under your yoga pants". ..i had no idea until she said it. tourist, i mean glenda dahling!!! not all "thongs" are created equal - but i will check the site - because i am a fan of all things "touristy" and the rest of you: are we all going to be falling over looking for "the cleft of a peach" - i LOVE that bay guy! or the two fruits and veg (thanks christine via d. swenson) in our next class? awareness folks BUT not THAT awareness

Expert Yogi Posts: 5098 Location: Somewhere in the Mountains of Western NC | The comment about the peach and fruit reminding me of a camp counselor when I was 13 yrs old. She told us we couldn't wear anything that revealed our "valley of the two mountains". At that age, all of us girls just stared at each other like this counselor is sooo wierd and excuse me but back then I didn't have mountains, I had hills,

Expert Yogi Posts: 8442 | Kira - honestly, I do think it is question of anatomy, not so much the garment. I have seen a lot of bodies in my various careers and the differences in size, shape and general arrangement of the parts that we don't see varies as much as those we do see My favourite line from the staples website referring to the comfort of their undies is "When you go hiking, they DON'T!"

Expert Yogi Posts: 2479 Location: A Blue State | Y'know, as a guy, I've never even considered wearing a thong. I doubt that they even make them for men. But I do remember the bizarre contraption that I had to buy for 7th grade gym class way back when: the athletic supporter. It had two straps that ran up the outside of each cheek, with a heavy elastic waistband and a triangular cloth front. (If it had been black leather, it would have been good for a night out in the Castro District... ..."....Y-M-C-A! You know it's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A!...") I bought the thing at school, as it was REQUIRED (yes, our gym teacher actually checked that we had it on). My mother found it in my laundry, or course, and was totally freaked out by it. She was not at all prepared for an adolescent boy anyway, and this vaguely sexual piece of underclothing was....well, she must've phoned my father to get an explanation ...but at that age, the LAST thing you want is to discuss some embarassing undergarment with your mother. Yep, it still bugs me, three decades later. ~~~ Although, I must say, nothing dangled. Edited by Bay Guy 2005-04-01 10:15 PM
