Attached is a link to a biographical sketch of Krishnamacharya the guru of Iyengar, Jois and Desikachar. Well written and quite an interesting and fascinating biography of Yoga's grandmaster.

It appeared in Yoga Journal in 2001.

I've read that piece several times. It's really interesting.

I bow down to the great teacher Krishnamachar of South India. For those who are new to Indian Sanskrit, Philosophy, and such. I read the first page, nicely written. However, the word avatar is used incorrectly. avatar means incarnation, not any incarnation, all people are incarnated. avatar means incarnation of God. The signs of such a life are very different.
