Subject: Pilates in Japan

Hi! I am the director of Pilates Japan based in Fukuoka. I have read some of the past comments on pilates in japan (or lack thereof), and I would be happy to assist anyone who needs information or recommendations to studios, instructors, etc.

Best of health!

Hi thanks so much for offering, I just moved here and am looking for real mat classes, not those 1hr classes I see in alot of Fitness studios. I've been practising mat for almost 1yr and trying hard to find a place to continue in Tokyo - Minato ku or Shibuya ku?

Thanks again.

hi newbie,

i live in osaka but i used to live in tokyo. there are heaps of pilates classes offered at dance studios, pilates studios and yoga studios. i did a quick google search of pilates shibuya and came up with quite a few.

check out metropolis magazine (in english) they usually advertise yoga and pilates classes in english. if you have already been practicing for a year maybe you could try some classes in japanese?

ask for their qualifications or pm the poster above

Hi,
Thanks for your help. Do you know of an English speaking pilates class in Tokyo. I live in Minato-Ku near your other posting. I am new to pilates and don't think my Japanese is good enough for japanese led instruction.

Thanks again,
jen

I'm in Kanazawa and for health reasons am looking for a good Pilates studio. I know the local gyms offer matwork courses, but I am looking for a true studio, or at least a highly qualified instructor as I'll be going for more than just exercise. Any assistance you can give me as to good instructors or studios would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
