| I've heard before what everyones favourite pose to do is, but I can't remember talking about the most beautiful? Well, I will bring it up again if I may. Mine is (I only know the english name) side crow pose. I LOVE this pose, it is so neat, it's my favouriter to see people do. I cannot do it myself yet, but can not wait to be able to. |

To me.. Pigen is the most beautiful !!! Scorpion is beautiful too., But I cant do that

So many of them are beutiful! How to pick?
Eka Pada Viparita Dandasana II, Natarajasana, Eka Pada Rajakapotasana I,
Urdhva Kukkutasana, Standing Bow Pulling pose (which seems to lack a unique
Sanskrit name), ..... I'm sure I'm overlooking others...

Standing pulling bow is Dandayamana Dhanurasana I believe.
The best pose to see people is shavasana I must say! That failing, the unsupported headstand with arms crossed looks great, especially when the yogin looks upset!

That's the name from the Ghosh/Bikram lineage. Others call it Natarajasana,
etc. This is why I said "unique".

| Dandayamana - JanuShirasana (standing head to knee) from the Bikram lineage is great to view especially if done correctly (I can't  ).
I think it combines balance (on one leg), strength (holding up and pulling one leg), flexibility (forward bend) and application of bandhas - abs pulled in (uddhiyand bandha) and chin to chest compression (jalandhara bandha). Though I don't believe Bikramites get into the application of bandhas but do apply them in a lot of poses. |

| You know, I can't think of just one that I think is beautiful. I do love watching advanced students do the primary series. They make it look so effortless as they flow linking each breath with a movement. It inspires me to keep doing so that one day it will feel as good as they look doing it.
I can tell the ugliest poses are pindasana and karnapidasana. No one looks good in those poses...even the little yoga hotties!

Maybe we should be discussing the ugliest yoga poses instead.
Simhasana is probably on that list somewhere.
I'm always a little self-conscious in Yoganidrasana, as well,
although I can't say it's complelety ugly.
Bikram's Eagle pose isn't too pretty, either. |

That's one of the reasons I migrate to the front of the class!
A little off the subject, but my yoga teacher last night said the funniest things as we are going into shoulderstand:
"Do NOT look to the side at your nieghbor, no matter how cute they are. If you turn look at them then you're paralyzed and they are going to get up and walk away...and you'll be stuck here." I don't think I've laughed so much with my feet in the air!! |
