Subject: Pilates for men

Simple question hopefully:

I am a man that is looking to get into Pilates mainly for the stretching and core work benefits. I am also looking to train with a ball.

Are there any good videos/DVDs out there for someone like me? Or should I stick to a specific book?

I appreciate any feedback.

Try a class! You'll be surprised at how hard it is. I've had many men join classes, thinking they were going to breeze through and smoke the womenfolk, only to realize how HARD Pilates really is!

If you can't find a class, there's lots of videos/books out there for you to try. It's not an exercise specific to women or men, so just try whatever interests you.

Any specific videos that you would recommend for use with the Swiss ball?

(Classes are pretty much a no-go for me since a) the gym I am a member at has classes at odd times and b) I have a 7-week old son.

THanks.

The Stott Stability Ball series is excellent. I highly recommend them. There are 4 levels. Level 1 - Core Balance, Level 2 - Dynamic Balance, Level 3 - 3D Balance, Level 4- Ultimate Balance. I got mine from Amazon. You can preview Core Balance at Collagevideo.com.
