If you're in the NYC area, please come and check it out.

Very cool! Yes, I am teaching a class that day as well. Otherwise I would surely make the cross continental trip! Have fun

Every now and then, I wish that DW would take up yoga, but then
I remember how we compete at everything and realize that it's
better that she continues her running....

It went fantastically! We had 17 people. Mostly couples and a few single people that paired up to play with each other. We did lots of partner stretches and partner poses and played some fun games. Then we worked on flying and massage techniques for a while. I think everybody really had a great time. It was a very fun and playful atmosphere. My girlfriend and I have done 3 of these together and I've taught another 6 or so with other people (before I met her). My girlfriend and I are hoping to make our workshop a regular occurence.

I love partner and acro yoga and go to as many workshops and classes as I can get to. So far my favorite is the Acro Yoga workshops (formerly ContactAcro). They are so much fun!

i'm glad that it went well for you. it seems like a popular workshop.

i did a couple's workshop on valentine's day that went really well--completely booked. that may be a good option for you. otherwise, i call them 'partner workshops.' they aren't terribly popular around here, mostly because people don't seem to like or want to touch each other. interesting, isn't it?

Yeah, Valentine's day is a popular time for it. I started teaching them a couple of VDays ago and then just kept on doing it. Yeah, some people aren't into touching, especially strangers in an open class. I don't do as much partnering in my regular classes because of that. But when you tell people that it's a partner class and tell them to bring their own partners then at least you get people that want to touch each other.

Different strokes for different folks.

i will occassionally add an optional 'partner yoga' thing in a few of my classes (say one in 30 or so). Usually, it's handstand/half handstand with the other person in downward dog (looks like a small chain of down dogs). Anyway, not everyone is into it, so i let them do the same thing with the wall (walking up the wall), or i assist them individually. everyone seems ok with this.

but when i've offered 'partner yoga' classes or workshops, they've been a really hard sell. The couple's yoga/couple's thai massage is more popular. actually, the thai massage is most popular. i usually fill about 2 or 3 of these work shops per year. sometimes, i allow 'partners' instead of 'couples' but 'couples' seem more into it on VD and don't want "partners" around. Anyway, it's weird social politics. there are things in this world that i just dont' get. and most of it is socialization.

Hey yogaguy, Great pictures and creative postures.. the combination between acrobatics and yoga, really appeal to me and my friend. We're trying to find a practice-spot in the Netherlands (where we live). It's not common here at all.
However it's really inspiring to see all the pictures at acroyoga.org and we're already trying several things.. to see how they work out.
If you have any advice/workshops you know of in Europe, than let me know plz!

Many summergreetings,
Sima
