I need to write an essay of "kundalini and chakaras". Can anyone provide some links? Thanks.

I have a few pages bookmarked on the chakras: http://www.kheper.net/topics/chakras/ and http://www.sacredcenters.com/chakras.html

You can do a search for information on kundalini. You can also go to the local library and look up information on both of these topics. If you find something at the library that you really like and cannot live without, then you can buy it at a bookstore or order it online.

I hope this helps a little

Namaste

For this topic, I'd recommend that you look at the book by Arthur Avalon
titled The Serpent Power (Dover Publications 1974; first published in
1919 in London). Avalon was apparently the pen name of Sir John Woodroffe.

The book includes introductory commentary and translation of two Sanskrit
works, Sat-cakra-nirupana and Paduka-pancaka, or Description
of the six chakras
and Fivefold footstool. These date from about
1500 AD. The subject matter is the use of Sat-cakra-bheda or piercing
the six chakras of the body, using Kundalini Shakti, or, the Serpent Power, as
Avalon terms it.

The book includes descriptions of the Chakras and some truly scary photos of
a thin bearded yogi sitting in Padamasana or Siddhasana while holding various
locks.

"Kundalini for Beginners" by Ravindra Kumar, Ph.D. This might help a little.

Dear Brother Bay Guy:
Paduka Panchaka means as follows:

paduka - sacred sandals, in the olden ages a disciple will worship the sandals (made up of wood, worn by monks, or others) of guru or a symbolic sandal of god, such as worhipped by his brother Bharata when Shree Rama left for exile. If you go to Indian temples, you shall see some padukas being worshipped of Rama, Shirdi Saeebaba, Saints, etc, etc.

Panchak - made up of or consisting of five things, generally five verses of poem or a philosophical text, or whatever.

Dear Brother Neel,

Thanks for the clarification. I was quoting Avalon, who uses the phrase without
much explanation. At another point he calls it "Fivefold Footstool of the Guru."

The story you mention from the Ramanayi should have been familiar to
Avalon, so I wonder why he used this other phrasing.

Diverting from the above talk, I wonder why Beauty Cat has to write such an essay.
