| Last week, I practiced asana every day for about 2 hours. And this week, I am busy with writing my paper. I just sit down and write all day long. Besides, I have had a cold for a few days, I am also in my period. So I feel tired and stopped practicing. Yesterday, I thought I should do Surya Namaskara. When I bent forward, my spine pricked. Just a little, not seious. I stopped at once. I'm worrying. I still feel a little pricking today.
I don't know why. And I don't know if I should practice asana or not.
Can someone give me some advice? |

| Advice?
a) If it is pricking constantly, go to sleep for long time.
b) If it still hurts, sleep more if possible.
c) If it still hurts, get it checked as to - point of hurting, status of spine such as inflammation, etc.

| susan - when you take a break from practice and spend time doing something like sitting to work on a paper, you need to start very slowly and carefully into asana practice. Try to do some seated twists and forward bends in your desk chair (there are many sites that show "desk yoga") during your writing. When you go to your mat, start with a long, gentle adho mukha virasana (sometimes called child's pose), tadasana with urdhva hastasana (upward hands) and baddha hastasana (interlaced fingers) and other gentle poses. This way you give your body a gradual start back into asana. This is even more important if you have spent a lot of time practicing recently, as you did last week. Let us know how your back is doing. |

| I'm Ok now!
Yesterday afternoon I took a walk outside. Before sleep, I did Parvatasana , Matsyasana and Halasana. Then I have slept for a long time. Now I'm alright.
I think it's because of imbalence. |
