Hi Friends,
Discussions at some other place prompted this article. Of course they are my own views and you may or may not agree with them.

True Essence of Karma Yoga
====================
Since our birth to death we do some sort of actions. These actions include working for our employer, house hold work, eating, digesting food, sleeping and even breathing. These actions or deeds are called as Karma. From this definition of Karma is is clear that no body on this earth can be saved from doing Karma...

"The true understanding of Karma Yoga lies is Ishvarapranidhana or surrendering everything to God."

Thank you, the article was very, very good.

I found myself nodding in agreement.

Very simple to understand and practical for implementation in life.

Dear Bipinji:
Again, a wonderful article from you. I wanted to extend the following comments:

- karma yoga term is applicable only in the context of spirituality, that is with spiritual realization in mind.

- the actual activity is NOT important at all, as you have indicated. However, the purpose of that activity is important. So, even killing an extremely dangerous person may be a very Sattwik acitivity. And, killing an innocent animal to eat is a very tamasika activity. In general, social welfare activities yield to sattwik behavior because that is when a person is likely to be NON selfish in a material sense.

- Not expecting fruits of actions of good deeds, in my opinion, does not refer to NOT craving for results. But, it means that one knows that one shall get rich material rewards including name/fame/money/conviniences out of their good deeds. Not to expect these, but to expect the Self Realization as the sole gain from the good deeds is NON Expectation of Fruits of actions.

Peace
