Subject: Massage in the Floor?

I'm thinking of massaging people on the floor- using a gym mat for comfort as I find the twisting around my table is wearing me out. Not to mention having to carry it around all the time.

I think this would be easier on my back, as I would be able to (can't think of a better word ...) kinda squat over people when massaging their back. I'd be able to apply even pressure and a firmer massage. Do you thinki this would be appropriate or do you think it could be misrepresented or threatening? I wouldn't actually be sitting on them - just hovering.

Carrying a portable mat would be far more comfortable than a table anyday.

I was on a yoga retreat in Italy recently. A masseuse was available. Amongst other forms, she practised Shiatsu on the floor on a double futon. It was marvellous. A double might be a bit heavy to tote around but a single might work?

I prefer being massaged on the floor. You know you're going to get a good massage when you're on the floor.

For people that are uncomfortable lying prone on the floor you might want to invest in a Body Cushion. I'll find the link and add it later.

They think of everything, don't they?

I've been on one of these and it's really comfortable. I felt like it provided a little traction on my back, which was awesome. I keep saying I'm going to buy one of these some day because every now and then I like to sleep prone, which is very, very, very bad for the neck (since you have to turn your head to breathe).

I just have to add, it looks like they could protect your breasts, and mammogram them at the same time.

Perhaps we should pass that suggestion on.... my mother tells me that mammograms involve sandwiching a boob at a time between a couple of plates in a most uncomfortable manner :-(

Looking forward to that one...NOT!!

Actually, sandwiching sounds pleasant, compared to the vise like experience I went through. And yay, I can return and get it done more often as I get older. Just another one of those perks I guess.

They should make a pregnancy model. I could have used that a few years back...

My sister in law used to always sleep on her stomach, and when she was pregnant she used to go to the beach, and dig a whole for her belly. She missed resting face down, and found a way to do it.
