Subject: uninjured injury

Hi all,

This past week I've noticed my right hip is tight. I must have stretch something too far although I don't remember s specific instance where I pulled it.

Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do about it?

I really don't want to take off from doing my yoga but that may be the answer.

Next week will be very busy for me and I know I will have to take some time off of yoga (fair week and the kids are up to their eyeballs in 4-H)

Thanks,
Deb

yes

sometimes i think, "if it can be injured, i've injured it."

What I've found that works is to sustain the range of motion by looking at your asana practice as a form of rehabilitation.

So, when your form isn't perfect to the nTH radian of a degree....no big deal, the point is to benefit your system, not have someone take your picture for the presentation of form.

The gross body might not have perfect form, but more subtle improvements may be taking place if you continue your genuine efforts in asana practice.

Improve your awareness of your breath, and your awareness of tension. Spend less time on 'Getting a Workout' and more time on cultivating an 'Awareness of Being'.

and Keep Practicing

Deb - as a general rule, we tend to injure ourselves going in or out of a pose, rather than in the pose. If you "flow" through poses, watch this carefully.

Hi Deb,

I'd love to give you some amazing fwwdback. In order for that to happen you would need to revisit this thread and post more information. You noticed your right hip is tight? One day you woke up, got out of bed and said "my hip is tight"?

You don't recall injurying the hip. Can you therefore tell us your activities leading up to the injury? When was the last time you recall the hip being pain free? IN what positions does it currently send pain messages? Standing? Walking? Lying down? What movements of the leg exacerbate the discomfort?

More more more.....
