| Hi, I haven't posted in awhile, but felt like stopping by today after my awesomely refreshing yoga class. About a year ago, I posted on this board about wanting to try yoga but being afraid and ashamed because of my weight (226 pounds!) . People here were encouraging and nonjudgemental enough to give me the extra push, so I went to a class and loved it. Yoga has had so many positive effects for me...less stressed, more mellow, more energized, toning, flexibility and strength benefits as I lose weight. It gave me the confidence to try group exercise classes, which have helped to boost my level of fitness (and, in turn, helped boost my yoga to a new level). Since last year at this time, I've lost 55 pounds through healthy and in-moderation eating, cardio and strength training, and yoga. (I really thank yoga for the fact that I don't have any nasty loose skin or anything like that as the weight comes off!) My yoga class became too easy and monotonous, so I switched to a new class a couple weeks ago and it is a great fit for me at this point because it challenges me. Of course I still have work to do weight-loss-wise and am looking for yoga to continue to help me through that! |
