Subject: stress and practice

I am having some acute housing problems. During my yoga practice, I find myself thinking, stressing, and dwelling on these issues. I want this to be my time again. I still meditate afterwards. Can anyone help?

choose a focal point, just as in meditation.

when you discover that you're thinking about something other than the yoga, return to the focal point. the most commonly used focal point is breath, but you could choose anything--alignment of the pose, the way your hair feels, whatever.

Hi!

This is a common problem, there is nothing to worry about. The solutions that Jennifer has mentione d are good. Alternatively, you can repeat a mantra (like OM) in your mind or slightly louder. If that does not help, divide the mantra into 4 parts (difficult to put into words) - like..Oo ..oo..oo..hm. and so on. Practicing Trataka after sunset will also help resolve this issue.

Thanks,
Gireesh

I think there's yet another side to this as well.
Allowing yourself to do this dwelling without making any effort at all to control of change it. Rather than shifting your focus continue as you are, becoming more the observer of your furtiveness rather than the performer of it.

Connect with your own inner sense of gratitude for your practice, even with this furtive mind activity, and allow that gratitude to blossom beyond the scope of your worry.

What are acute housing problems?

I don't know but if they are what I think they are, prioritize and fix it, then your "you time" will be more peaceful.

Maybe something to do with dwelling on your dwelling? (sorry, couldn't resist)
