Ashtanga Yoga "for the rest of your life" workshop, is scheduled to be held in my area this spring. If any of you have attended this workshop, I would be interested in hearing your comments. Thanks.

Impressions? Please describe.

David Williams had nothing negative to say about Swenson at the workshop that I did with him. He seemed to be on good terms with him.

I enjoyed meeting David Williams, and the workshop mentioned above is on the same theme as the one I attended.  David said something like "I want to see what it's like to do yoga until I'm 80 years old."  He's not interested in the dramatic asanas, just a strong & steady practice of the basic stuff.  I admired his openness and his lack of pretense, and I've made a mantra of his statement "if it hurts, you're doing it wrong."

Hi Bay Guy,

Both the David's are wonderful people and excellent instructors. They are great ambassadors for Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and for the wider Yoga community.

I didn't write that D. Swenson said anything negative about D. Williams, in fact it's quite the contrary as he has always spoken highly of him on the workshops I have attended.

Anyone who has attended a D. Swenson workshop knows that he often uses humour and light hearted stories while he teaches and this is what I was referring to.

I hope that clears up any confusion.

Jonathon

Oh, thanks.  Everything I have ever heard about either of them suggests that they are nice people (I've never met Swenson, but I've discussed him with those who have... )

Are you still interested in taking David's workshop? Cincinnati is just a hop skip and jump away. Have you had any previous workshops with David? David Swenson? Manju Jois? Sharath?

The reason I ask, is each one of these Ashtanga yogis has something different to offer to help you along in your practice. Probably David Williams has had the greatest impact on mine.
