Location: A Blue State | Impressions? Please describe. David Williams had nothing negative to say about Swenson at the workshop that I did with him. He seemed to be on good terms with him. I enjoyed meeting David Williams, and the workshop mentioned above is on the same theme as the one I attended. David said something like "I want to see what it's like to do yoga until I'm 80 years old." He's not interested in the dramatic asanas, just a strong & steady practice of the basic stuff. I admired his openness and his lack of pretense, and I've made a mantra of his statement "if it hurts, you're doing it wrong." ... bg |

| Hi Bay Guy,
Both the David's are wonderful people and excellent instructors. They are great ambassadors for Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and for the wider Yoga community.
I didn't write that D. Swenson said anything negative about D. Williams, in fact it's quite the contrary as he has always spoken highly of him on the workshops I have attended.
Anyone who has attended a D. Swenson workshop knows that he often uses humour and light hearted stories while he teaches and this is what I was referring to.
I hope that clears up any confusion.

Location: A Blue State | Oh, thanks. Everything I have ever heard about either of them suggests that they are nice people (I've never met Swenson, but I've discussed him with those who have... ) .. bg |

| Are you still interested in taking David's workshop? Cincinnati is just a hop skip and jump away. Have you had any previous workshops with David? David Swenson? Manju Jois? Sharath?
The reason I ask, is each one of these Ashtanga yogis has something different to offer to help you along in your practice. Probably David Williams has had the greatest impact on mine. |
