Subject: Worth doing training here?

I'm currently residing in New York and have been here for several years. I am ready to start training to become a yoga teacher. However, I will be moving to Germany later this year and wondered whether a US yoga qualification is useable in Germany or the rest of Europe. Anyone know?

Om Namah Sivaya,

Where are you receiving your training and from whom? Is it a 200 hour certification or a 500 hour?

My experience is that if you are recieving your training from a well known and reliable school there usually is not any issues with international work since most schools have affiliates world-wide.

Here is a link to my school's center in Berlin...give them a shout and see what they have to tell you. They even hold TTC's there also.......

germany has completely different standards. last time i looked, they required a 2 or 4 year program. i'm sure a quck search on google would give the most recent standards.

but i do know that the standards are different.

Om Namah Sivaya,

There were 40 individuals from all over the world at my TTC including Germany............. everyone was looking forward to going home to teach afterwards. I honestly do not think that there are any additional requirements............

from what I see a Yoga instructor only needs a 200 hour certification to teach as in the states. Maybe you may find more than I coud.

Om Shanti,
Ravi

? This is all a bit puzzling.  It's kind of like asking whether a college degree from a US school is usable in Germany.  The answer is twofold -- it depends on what college and what was taught; and it depends on whether you really learned what they taught.

I think that the only exception to this might be if you were trying to work in a specific system of yoga that has an internationally defined standard (such as Iyengar yoga, Bikram yoga, or Sivananda yoga). And that sort of standard would be mainly useful at yoga schools working within the stated style.
