Location: Upstate NY | mishoga - 2007-02-06 1:47 PM Sounds like a spa instead of an Ashram to me. My girlfriend/Yoga Teacher just came back from a stay there this past weekend. She said it was wonderful. For the first time she stayed in a condo/room (sleeps many) with friends, very nice interior. She didn't mention anything about the food but she did receive a massage and hung out in the spa. I'll ask her about the food. She goes there often so she would know.  | ||

It would be so cool to ride out west with my horse (with a trailor of course). Gyp could learn "horsyoga", visit cowboy country, I could get facials and body massages...then we can ride into the wild blue yonder. Sounds heavenly,  | ||

| Just stumbled across this thread. I was there a few weeks ago. There is definitely a bit more meat available at meals than there was a couple years ago, I don't think every meal but I recall BBQ chicken one meal and turkey burgers another, and various tuna or chicken salads fairly often. Seems like more eggs and cheese too. There were a few new options (simple sandwich bar lunch and dinner which always seemed to have turkey or chicken breast and cheese, with a panini grill to use; the Budhha bar with mostly very simple vegan food; and the 2 main buffets usually had one designated veggie and one non. Or maybe sometimes veggie and vegan.) Mostly, the food has generally gotten much tastier, not that it was bad or anything before but just seemed more satisfying this time. Lots of things I wanted the recipes for, which I wouldn't have said last time, like a great Indonesian rice salad, vegan potato salad, some yummy curries, and a tasty Greek foccacia that curbed pizza craving. That chipolte BBQ chicken was really good and I don't usually even like chicken much. I took emergency brownies and didn't even finish them. Definitely not Canyon Ranch, but there is some amount of new furniture and updates in public areas. Nice new waiting room for treatments that looks more like you would see at a spa compared to the ratty waiting room they used to have. My room was small and simple but looked recently redone with new bathroom fixtures, carpet, paint, furniture, pretty much everything. That was nice. I stayed in the same room type last time and it was very old and dated. Wandering around the halls, saw them working on a few other rooms, so maybe they plan on working through them all eventually, no idea how far along they are.
