Subject: Astanga Yoga

I started Astanga class last week, it was very challenging and by the end of the session I realised I was alot weaker and unflexible as I thought I was.
I have previously attended a few iyengar classes though but astanga is very fast paced, more flowing and definitely alot more physically challenging. To be frank, I feel like I had put an effort into it once I leave the studio.
The following 2 days prior to the session, my body was aching and stiff in places I wouldn't imagine.
During the class, I wasn't able to get into a few poses, possinbly due to being slightly weak in certain body parts.. and some poses I couldnt hold for much long.
My qestion is... should I carry on with the class, keep strong and motivated and allow it all to come to me whilst I build strength or should I change classes and perhaps go back to body alighnment and strength though iyengar classes first?
My teacher did say I should stick with Astanga as it will all soon come to me with practice but I wouldnt mind opinions from other professionals and students.

Only you can answer that, though personally, I practise both Ashtanga and Iyengar.

To quote SKPJ, the Guru of Ashtanga, "practise, practise and all is coming".
