I've had teachers downplay the bandhas and ones that speak more frequently.

Full Uddiyanana is really only done in Pranayama. So you don't want to overdo it.

In the postures you are not fully contracting it. If you did you would not be able to breath.

So, I would find mula bandha and imagine the string attached to the navel and spine for uddiyana Bandha.

The breath will connect you with these actions. Hope this helps,

I think we are all describing different actions-the question is, which one is optimal-like you say, your body will tell you.
