Hi! My name is Jess; I am living in Texas temporarily for the moment, and heading back home to Montana ASAP! I am an advanced equestrian specializing in dressage, which is basically ballet with horses - it requires infinite amounts of physical strength, patience, and determination. About a year ago I became intersted in Pilates, and am very excited about learning more about both Pilates and Yoga. I have been really impressed how much the strengthening and suppling has helped with my riding - I look forward to learning more!

Hey Mountain Girl,

I'm a mountain girl too, here in the Carolinas.  I also have a horse too, his name is Gyp.  You would be really interested to know that in the February, 2007 issue of the magazine, "Perfect Horse", there is an extensive article featuring Yoga Asana's.  The article is called, "Get Fit and Ride Strong".  It's really great.  My Yoga teacher gave me this article, it has complete insructions as well as the illustrations.

I can't imagine doing ballet with horses - I bet that's some fancy, smancy ridin',   The horse I was working with and riding today was plenty enough to give my legs and abs a great workout.  I'm doing intense riding lessons with a trainer who has worked several ranches in Montana.  He's so great, we're so lucky to have him here in our area.  My daughter and I are learning sooo much.  We do Yoga & Riding lessons once a week.  Then we ride on our own the rest of the time.  We did a ride this afternoon in the National Forest.  So beautiful and snow was everywhere in the higher elevations.

Well, if you're ever over here in NC, give us a hollar.  We can hook you up on some really nice scenic rides and a Yoga class too,

Oh yea, welcome to this little yoga community.

Cyndie - it's great to know there's another rider on here! I've had some very fit, non-horsey people come out and ride at my barn, and they are always suprised what a workout riding is when you do it correctly! Best of luck to you and your daughter in your riding, and if you're ever up in Montana, give me a shout!

Welcome to the board! I grew up riding horses (usually bareback) and it is quite a workout!
Glad you're here, you'll learn a lot from Cyndi and some of the others. They've taught me a lot about yoga and natural health. Reading the posts on here has become a favorite way to end my day.
