Subject: Good books to compliment yoga

I was wondering if anyone has read anything that they would recommend about the philosophy, meditation and teachings behind ashtanga? I'm trying to develop my knowldge of ashtanga and wanted to read something to inspire me and motivate me on off days.

I'm looking for something that isn't too westernized.

Many thanks,
Namaste

This is a fantastic question. Though I can answer this, but since I am not a Certifed Teacher in Ashtanga Style Exerices, I will answer this as follows:

Get hold of extremely good Ashtanga Teacher. That should not be difficult in today's InterNetted world. Then, ask them this question.

Hi popo,

The Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga of SKPJ is Raja Yoga (even though the primary focus is on asana), so the most appropriate text for you to study is the Yoga Sutra's of Patanjali.
